Figs and Pork and Fresh Salad
Fig season. They come in the box nearly every week now! I never use to eat figs. I was afraid of figs. And then a coworker at Genentech (this was nearly 10 years ago now) brought some in from her land by Davis. She said she never use to eat them either and was likewise confused and daunted by them. Everyone else grabbed them up. She saved a couple for me to try. She showed me how to eat one. It was... well, it was gushy and unusual, but downright delicious. Yes, it was good. I liked it. I tried not to be afraid any longer.
And thus, I now welcome them as often as I can get them! Here we poached some in a little stock, pat of butter, and white wine:

Meanwhile, we grilled up some delicious boneless pork chops in the oven:

And also chopped up some fresh veggies:
