French Food - Japanese Style
Our first night in Kyoto we ate at the hotel restaurant for a number of reasons: it was late, we were tired, they gave us a bottle of champagne upon check-in, we really didn't know where to go anyway, and the menu looked good. The restaurant also looked good:

So what did we eat? Well, we began with a couple appetizers. Pork rillettes (thank you, Diane, for letting us know about this wonderful treat) and olive paste on toasts. Delicious.
Then salmon tartar, which was to die for.
And finally, I ordered a truly lovely seared tuna as my entree and I can't recall what Dave ordered and the photo turned out abysmally, so let's say it was a pork chop? No matter, take a gander at this beauty:
