Ahhh... Mexico

Well, I am ashamed to say I did not take nearly as many photos of the food we ate in Mexico as I would have liked. I will post the ones I did take in a bit. The food was fantastico! We ate many interesting things. And lots of tacos. Tacos al pastor were the biggest hit. We first had these at the wedding. The lovely wedding couple knew we would need a taco infusion around 10-11pm to keep us dancing, so they hired a taco stand to come in and make fresh tacos al pastor, which according to the groom cannot be had in the states. What a shame! The meat for these tacos is cooked on a vertical spit - think gyros - next to a very hot gas fire source, and with a pineapple on top being infused by the lovely meat scent. The meat is sliced off as it cooks from outside in, and bits of pineapple are also sliced to add to each taco. Then you can dress them as you see fit with cilantro, onion, various salsas all delicious.(Photo thanks to Eoghan O'Neill.)

We were in a small town outside Mexico City called Tepotzlan. They are famous for making fireworks (there were fireworks at the wedding we went to!) and also for their ice cream. There was an ice cream store about every 3 stores. No not every 3 blocks, every 3rd store. Almost. And they have over 100 flavors - some very unusual such as pineapple-habanero (Dave's favorite), jamaica (hibiscus), corn, or tamarind. My favorites were the coconut, mint, and of course chocolate.
