October 11 The last of the Heirlooms
A very simple & quick meal - variations of which we ate probably once a week throughout the summer - heirloom tomatoes with a little garlic & shallot served on pasta with a sprinkle of parmesan reggiano, basil and thyme, and in the case of Dave's (pictured), the addition of some Hawaiian peppers brought back from the Big Island. I was at the Thursday farmer's market and thought this may be the last chance for some good heirlooms. I also picked up a loaf of my favorite bread - rustic kalamata olive bread from the Phoenix bakery. Yumm.
