the pasta pot
So I'm going to try and post some other pics when we don't cook at home. For instance, two categories I am thinking of are: tools & essentials. Obviously, there is some overlap, such as essential tools, like a good knife. But in general, tools will be actual tools (garlic press, scale, cast iron pan), while essentials is likely to be ingredients (good olive oil, vanilla beans, favorite spices, etc.).
This pot is pretty much an essential for us now. It was a gift from my mother (or sister?) and is, as described, a pot for cooking pasta - the pasta pot. It has big holes on one side and smaller on the other. We thought it was gimmicky at first, but now we use it all the time.
Dave loves it because he can leave the lid on while the pasta is boiling and it doesn't spill over. I like it because it is just one thing to wash, instead of a pot and a collander. Very handy! It can also be used to boil or steam other things besides pasta, so it has become a very well-used tool in our kitchen.

Actually a gift from your father. I got one too.
